Ik hoop dat er nog fam in leven is . What ik wel wil zeggen is dat veel detektor zoekers een voorbeeld aan mijn friend mogen nemen, want hij heeft gelijk de politie gebeld en niet de lijken kaal geplukt . My mom is now 92 and she never remarried. she has 2 grandkids,7 greatgrands, and 2 great great grands. My wife & I visited Margarten back in 1983. We hope to bring one of our granddaughter to Paris and a side trip to Margarten when she completes high school in a few years. Can you tell me if anyone still has adopted my fathers grave site, Earl L Wolf Sr.? It would be great to have a contact there before we visit. Thanks to all the adopters for what you do. To my Dutch friends:
If any of you, or if any of your friends, wishes to adopt a name on the MIA wall, I have one. Pfc. William (Sonny) Simon was killed on Nov. 5, 1944, while serving with the 109th Infantry Regiment of the 28th Infantry Division. I assume he was in the Hurtgen Forest attack, because the 28th was mauled in that attack, and books have been written about how the battle never should have happened. Simon has a VFW post named after him in Middleton, Wis., a few miles from where I grew up. His photo certainly is there and I would think the post probably knows where surviving family is. I will pursue this once I know he has been adopted. Tom Mueller Etheridge, Mart T-Info

I want to thank the Frans van der Heide family of Haalen who adopted my brother's grave (PFC Richard R. Westfall, 39th Inf, 9th Division, killed April 1, 1945)- a few years ago. He is buried in Plot B, Row 2, Grave 27. He was killed near Winterburg, Germany. Though given orders to retreat,he stayed at his post and was able to beat off an attack and save his regiment. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Presidential Unit Citation and Oak Leaf Cluster. The van der Heides visit his grave a couple of times a year to decorate it beautifully with flowers she arranges. One of my nephews has had the opportunity to meet and be entertained by the family and taken to see the grave. My husband and I were in the Netherlands in the 1980's and saw the cemetery and my brother's grave then. It is such a beautiful memorial to our soldiers. I want to thank all those who adopt a grave. It means so much to the families here in the U.S. who elected to have their loved ones buried there. The van de Heide family have indicated they plan to visit us in America either this year or next. It will be such a pleasure to be able to thank them in person.
